Dharana; What are you focusing on? Our Yoga practice gives us the opportunity and the tools to increase our ability to focus. When we practice one-pointed focus and can sustain that for a period of time, that becomes meditation. Think about how many times in the day your mind jumps from task to task, barely able to hold a sustained and cohesive thought, it’s no wonder we feel pulled apart an exhausted by the end of the day. In Yoga we create practice around the task of deep focus, and when we bring it into context of realizing the Self or Purusha then that is samadhi, or an experience of one-ness with the entire universe. This experience, even glimpsed at for a moment, restores our humanity and our faith in ourselves.
Vinyasa flow class with standing poses, emphasis on working towards handstand and fore-arm balance.
